What is Membership?
Membership at The River is a commitment to a spiritual community grounded in the historic Christian faith, expressed through the liturgy, sacraments, and traditions of the Anglican tradition.
It involves regularly participating in worship, engaging in the life of the church through prayer, fellowship, and service, and supporting the mission and ministry of the congregation with one's time, talents, and resources. Membership also connects individuals to the wider Anglican Communion, a global family of churches united in scripture, tradition, and reason.
Members agree with and commit to our Membership Covenant and confirm their commitment each year at our Annual Meeting.
Membership at The River Anglican Church
Following are the steps to becoming a member of The River Anglican Church. All baptized followers of Christ who consider The River their church home are encouraged to take these steps to membership.
Take a River 101 class. The class begins with a casual dinner, followed by an introduction to The River including what we believe, our Anglican affiliation, a brief history of our church, and how we are structured and operate.
River 101 is offered multiple times during the year. Check Upcoming Events for dates and times. If the class schedule is not convenient, indicate your interest in taking a class by submitting this form.
Take a River 102 class. River 102 focuses on what it means to be a member of our local church.
River 102 is offered multiple times during the year. Check Upcoming Events for dates and times. If the class schedule is not convenient, indicate your interest in taking a class by submitting this form.
Following River 102, each participant has the opportunity to fill out the Membership Questionnaire that indicates the desire to become a member of The River and provides some background information for Pastor Jonathan. Once the Questionnaire is submitted, meetings are schedule with Pastor Jonathan to discuss any questions or comments that participants may have regarding membership.
Following the Pastoral Meeting, time is scheduled during a Sunday morning service to recognize new members. New members affirm the Membership Covenant and are welcomed into membership.
