If you consider The River your church home, or if you are a newcomer and would just like to learn more, we invite you to take the next steps and get connected at The River.

The first step is to attend a Meet & Greet time following the morning service. Newcomer Meet & Greet times are scheduled once a month during the year and are a great time to get to know Pastor Jonathan, some of The River's staff, and more about the series of “pathways” classes designed to deepen your faith, to discover how to live out your faith, and to get to know more about the church.

The diagram below shows that the steps on these pathways are not always linear. You can enter from multiple points and move between the pathways.

The steps are offered as individual classes or small groups scheduled multiple times a year. Check Upcoming Events for class dates and registration links.

Ready to take the Next Step?

Let us know your interest in taking the next step by filling out the form linked below, even if it is only to request more information about the pathways or the steps.

Flow chart for newcomer integration
  • Discipleship Pathway - The River’s Discipleship Pathway is a journey to strengthen us as disciples of Jesus through a structured, practical, and relational process. This 15-week series of consists of 5 weeks focused on each of the three parts of our mission to “Know, Follow, and Share Jesus, together.”

The Pathway is offered as a small group beginning each September and again in February.

  • The “Membership” pathway has two classes:
    • River 101 is an introduction to The River including what we believe, our Anglican affiliation, a brief history of our church, and how we are structured and operate.
    • River 102 focuses on what it means to be a member of our local church.

You do not need to pursue membership to take River 101, however, River 101 and River 102 are required for those desiring to become members.

  • The “Anglican” pathway also has two classes:
    • Anglicanism 101 is a look at why we do what we do in worship for anyone new to liturgy or anyone who just wants to learn more about the Anglican tradition.
    • Anglicanism 102 is a deeper look at Anglicanism and preparation for Confirmation.

You are not required to pursue Confirmation in order to take Anglicanism 101 or 102. Anglicanism 101 is not required but is highly recommended for anyone who is new to Anglicanism before pursing Confirmation. Anglicanism 102 is required for those pursing Confirmation.
