    In the  Parable of the Fig Tree recorded in Luke 13, the man who took care of the vineyard implored the owner of the vineyard to allow him to tend to the fig tree so that it might have more time to produce fruit. The vineyard owner symbolizes God; the man who took care of the vineyard symbolizes Jesus that advocates for us, symbolized by the fig tree.
